St. Louis Writer, Bridget Reddick

You need a writer who understands the special demands of the online world. But you still need the great writing that has always helped winning businesses stand apart. So that's why I'm here.

You might call what I do content marketing. Or maybe even integrated marketing services. Or you could say I'm a copywriter for old and new media.

I like to call it being a word nerd for a new media world.

  • A word nerd — I'm a grammar guru and a storyteller, a writer who knows how to craft a message, evoke an emotion or correct a proof
  • For a new media world — I'm a blogger and a website copywriter, I know how to help you get found and stay relevant with snappy copy, keywords and social media tools

Background

In 1999, I started my career at the Smithsonian Institution. I saw cool stuff. I raised lots of money. But the slow pace of the non-profit world wasn't the right fit. I took a little break and got a master's degree in history (William & Mary, 2002) to go with my Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude degree in English (Kenyon College, 1999). 'Cause I wasn't nerdy enough yet.

The academic and non-profit worlds didn't fit my fast-paced, go-get-'em style. So I turned to marketing and corporate communication.

I became a senior creative at a leading heritage management firm, where I worked with Fortune 1000 companies and national brands. I led amazing and complex projects, including company museums, exhibits, books, videos and more. My clients included Abbott Labs, Boston Scientific, Staples, UPS and Norfolk Southern.

Then, in 2006, I launched my freelance business and my first personal blog. I kept working in corporate history but I also knocked myself out to learn how to be a great website copywriter. I started working with other agencies, start-ups and web-based companies to create websites, blogs and branded content, as well as books and exhibits. I also started offering proofreading and project management services.

It's been four years now and my freelance business is still the best job I've ever had. I get to do amazing projects for great clients by combining my old-school wordsmithing skills with the new media tools that are changing the world every day. Am I lucky or what?
